ELECTRIC LOGS BY HALIBURTON
SHOW SHALE, GAS & WATER SANDS
Haliburtom taKes the electric log on the right. The first part shows shale or rock. The lower part shows gas or water sands. The composite log on the left shows formations and coal. The coal beds are mapped and followed by directional drilling. Natural gas is found in the coal seams. At 4,500 feet the bottom hole pressure is around 2000 lbs./sq. Water that is present is under great pressure and holds the gas in the coal deposit. When you release the water pressure, natural gas will flow from the well.
